Last week I received an email from a band I have been listening to for several years and they stated they were having a poster contest for their upcoming American Tour. So naturally I had to submit. The group Silversun Pickups reminds me of music I was listening to in the early to mid nineties Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine in particular.
In 2010 my wife and I took a trip to Chicago to see them with Against Me and it turned out to be a great bonding moment for my wife and I and an excellent performance by both acts. I quickly sketched out an idea and began to work. The drawing part was easy, putting it into Photoshop and reworking it turned into a much more labor extensive experience.
So after several days of staring at pixels and learning how to define patterns and brush and re-brush I realized that I am not much of a graphic artist for which I have a new found admiration for those that are. The submission was through Instagram, which I have not used since it began...lol. After sending the image back and forth to my phone in many different forms I was ready to send it in. The deadline was approaching fast so I quickly sent it over not realizing that I was logged into my daughters account lolobug loves her cat after a bit of searching for my password I got it sent over on my account with all the #'s and @'s attached.

Here is the final product. On second thought it may not look much like a tour poster, but I had fun and someone out there will see it before it hits the delete bin.
After a few week I received a signed card from the band thanking me for my entry! Silversun Pickups is a stand up band! Thanks for all the inspiration.
